This is an illustration of the flower of Heterostemma brownie Hayata, a plant that was thought to have been extinct for over a 100 years due to a lack of confirmation. This rare plant was rediscovered in Chiang Rai, Thailand, in 2019 after a century. Its yellow star shape with deep crimson accent patterns has earned it the nickname "Starfish of the Forest". The botanical garden in Thailand that confirmed this plant seems to have solicited names and nicknames in Thai in 2025.
