The root vegetables illustrated on this page particularly refer to vegetables that are consumed for their roots, underground stems (stems that grow underground), or especially the stem parts near the ground (such as 'turnips'). Commonly recognized root vegetables include 'daikon' and 'potatoes'. Even among daikons, there are various types: from the commonly seen pale green tops that turn completely white below, to the deep black daikons, as well as long daikons and perfectly round ones resembling turnips. There are many different varieties and appearances even among those considered the same root vegetable. They also create different impressions depending on the angle and condition in which they are viewed. We will showcase these diverse illustrations.
